Facemaker

Been awhile since I've posted....so many updates to do....for now, just a quick one.

So I have been waiting since forever for Facemaker's Ep 13 soft subs...it has been almost a year I think can still can't find any.  And then I found Japanese subs - and because I really really want to watch the drama I am attempting to translate it myself - I'm sure there will be stuff that will be lost in translation and  it'll probably take me another year to finish it LOL  :-)   I'm not even halfway yet!  To top it off, it's the last episode so that may kind of spoil it for me - oh well.

Waaah!  It's the last day of 2011!   It's now exactly 1:56am on December 31, 2011 time to go to bed!

This translating thing gets me carried away!

おやすみ!

Tokyo Trip - July 30, 2011

Day Four

Once again, I'm was off for my morning stroll at 6:00am within the neighbourhood.  The streets would be almost empty at this time, shops still mostly closed and shopkeepers getting ready for the day.

main road in front of my hotel

tiny back street - always surprises me that cars actually drive through them

the object of this photo is actually the pants that the guy is wearing, - very loose but fitted at the ankles. I don't know what they are called but I see them used mostly by workers.
You see vending machines for all sorts of things everywhere - 便利ですね。

My intersection when I get off my station.
On this particular day, my early morning stroll took me all the way to Hanzomon in search of the nearest Daiso.  According to google maps it was in Hanzomon.  That is why I find my Pasmo card very convenient....just step onto the train and it will take you anywhere.  I did not find Daiso, however, I was able to snap a few photos.

A shrine in Hanzomon

I think this is a two way street - taken in Hanzomon.

Women Only Cars - nothing like this in Toronto
...just because the train was almost empty...
On the way back, I bought brunch from a lady selling bento.
My brunch - onigiri - one of them is うめおにぎり -すっぱい!!!
I decided to go back to Ueno - Ameyoko.  I like walking here (despite the smells), browsing in shops, you find all sorts of things and if you're patient enough, you may find deals as well.

the early morning hour before the throng of people arrive...few shops are open at this time.

I happened to pass by a park with a flea market - it may have been the outskirts of Ueno Park.  I did not go into Ueno Park this trip....I've already done a lot of walking - maybe next time.....another reason to come back :-)

The sky has turned drk once again - it was time to head back to the hotel.

The evening's itinerary was Harajuku, stroll along Takeshita Dori, though far from being a leisurely stroll as I was mostly dodging people.  It was very very very crowded - I think it's part of it's charm :-)

If you happen to be an AKB48 fan, they have a newly opened fan shop in Harajuku :-)
.....a stroll down Omotesando Hills

Tokyo Trip - July 29, 2011

Day Three

It was a rainy day so I decided that this was the perfect day to spend my day at the Edo-Tokyo Museum.

Entrance to the Edo-Tokyo Museum

Sky Tree from the Edo-Tokyo Museum
The museum was very informative.  The displays of the cities in olden times were very detailed.  They provide binoculars so you can get a closer look.

There were also other information that I found very interesting.

I also found the display for the blind very considerate.  In fact, as per my previous post, I had commented about the yellow lines that I found all over the city which at first were to separate pedestrian traffic (did not really make sense to me at that time), I learned they were actually to guide the blind.

Display for the blind with Braille

Roppongi Hills was next on my list.  I did not get to go up the top of City View.  Riding on elevators to high places isn't really my thing.

I had to take this photo :-)   Kamen Rider 000
Stopped by Shibuya for a bit.

Ready, Set, Go!

....and here they come!

I happened to get off at Ebisu Station.  There was a "matsuri".  I got to eat my yakisoba and ika -  check!

It started raining once again - I just made it to my hotel before it really poured.  Today was a good relaxed pace.

Tokyo Trip - July 28, 2011

Day Two

Day Two wasn't spent with so much walking, I was smarter this time - yeah right! - instead it was mostly spent inside the JR Yamanote train.  Not paying attention as to which direction I was supposed to be heading I just stepped inside the train.  The one good thing is that the JR Yamanote Line is a circle - a big big circle.  I almost completed the loop....had I been paying attention, I would have completed my trip in half the time.

JR Yamanote in Akihabara
I finally did get to Shin-okubo after taking in all the various interesting ..... smells.  Korea Town is in Shin-okubo.  I gather Korean Drama is very popular here in Japan as well.  They have stores selling goods with pictures of Korean stars - I recognized many of them - hehe - that was also one of the reasons Shin-okubo was on my itinerary.  Ummm, no I did not buy uchiwas!

KDrama - My Princess - there there on the light post!

One store selling K-star goods flocked by fans.

One other reason I wanted to go to Korea Town was to taste their Gam Jae Tang (Pork Bone Soup), and ended up eating at Sukiya - the  most non-Korean place I could have gone to while in Korea Town.  I ordered what was supposed to be a donburi, the server was by now speaking to me in rapid Japanese, I could only catch bits and pieces of it so it was just easier to say  「はい!」....so my donburi came to me without the rice, which was just as well as I wasn't really feeling that hungry - it was still yummy anyway.

Next stop - Ikebukuro.  Thank goodness it was just a five minute trip - I went the right way this time.  Ikebukuro is a very busy place.  There is an interesting store called Tokyu Hands, it's fun to browse through the stuff that they sell.....of all the things - I managed to buy a pair of eyeglasses - in Japanese. Yups, I went through having my eyes checked, reading the chart - in Hiragana mind you.

I went to Namjatown in Sunshine City.  I was only there for the Gyoza Town - though didn't get to eat one gyoza at all.

Piggy-shaped Gyozas?
 and the Ice Cream City

Wasabi - ice cream?
I should have really tried the wasabi ice cream, but I had the more normal Mango Magic Ice - coward!

So there goes Day Two of my trip.
